future mother-in-law!

I was able to fly out a day early on my way to Alaska for work and spent Monday in Utah... Tammy and I went house hunting and then met up with Becky Cook, Kayla's future MIL.  We had a blast having dinner and planning things for the wedding.

I think I'm going to like sharing grandkids with her.  And Tammy.

The ribbons are Kayla's colors.  Lime green, turquoise, bright pink and brown.  Very pretty together!

My creative girl

Shea never ceases to amaze me... here are a few of her recent creations...

I taught Shea how to make yo-yo's
so she decided to spruce up one of her shirts
This is a quilt I made for a friend that loves flip-flops....
so Shea decided to make herself some flip flops

This is a new style of bow she found on a blog
she then glued it to a clip and put it on her hat

This one was Shea's idea
she took large ric rac, glued it to
a head band and then added buttons.

Kayla is engaged!!!!!

The proposal....
Tyson had "Kayla Cook" engraved into a new set of scriptures for Kayla.  Her old scriptures were falling apart so this was a wonderful gift that I know meant a great deal to Kayla.  The picture is of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple where they will be married.  He set all this up in a room on campus and took her there Wednesday evening.   How romantic!

Kayla had no idea that Tyson had the ring yet... She thought he was getting it this weekend.  Becky, Tyson's mom. drove from SLC to Pocatello, ID to meet up with Tyson so he could surprise her.  And was she surprised!!  Then he did the "kneely thing" as Shea calls it.   Looks like the answer was YES!

One of life's curve balls....

When we moved to Oklahoma last August (exactly 5 1/2 months ago) I said I planned on being here until Shea graduated high school.  Seven years.  Enough time to pay off our house, save for my little farm and then move somewhere with mountains and live happily ever after.

Through a series of itty-bitty miracles that has been moved up six years.  Well, maybe not the farm part.. we'll have to see if that works out.

Robert was offered a job last week at Utah Valley University in Orem, UT and he accepted on Friday.
We will be moving in July.
Stressful?  YES!
Wonderful?  YES!

I guess those two things will just have to work together.

Now this is a real snow day!!

When it snows in Oklahoma, everything stops!  They don't clear the roads and everyone hunkers down.  The grocery store was absolutely crazy last night, and hopefully I NEVER feel compelled to go to the store the night before a blizzard again!

High temp today and tomorrow:  11 degrees.
Inside the Sawyer house:  Cozy and warm!!

Shea's acting debut!!!

Shea has been in 6th grade drama and they ended the semester with The Christmas Carol.  She was chosen to play the lead as Mrs. Scrooge.  She worked VERY hard at memorizing her lines and did an amazing job this week at the performance.
Looking beautiful as Mrs. Scrooge

Being VERY good at being mean to the charity workers.
