Spring at the Cabin

A little work... a little play.

I cut down over a hundred aspen saplings in the backyard.
Robert chopped out a huge root.
Greg worked on the weeds.

I obviously did most of the work.
slackers.

Look how gorgeous it looks -
next we are going to move the propane tank so the
backyard will be more open.

Then it was time to play...

Shea is in Mexico and Robert has to work, so Braden and I flew down to Moab yesterday to do a little hiking.  Great fun!

Biking my 50 miles in Nevada

We spent two days down in Nevada during Robert's spring break.  It was in the high 90's and my out-of-shape fanny got a work out.

We stayed in Henderson and did this great loop by Lake Mead
and Lake Las Vegas.  We thought it was 30 miles, but much to
out dismay, it turned out to be 35 miles.  The last 10 miles was
so very, very hard.  Up hill and hot, hot, hot.
The trail head was at a casino, so we went in there to change before
heading over to Hoover Dam.  I sat down in a soft chair in the lobby
and truly wondered if I could ever get up again.
but I did.
 Hoover Dam was very cool.
actually it was hot there too, but you know what I mean.

 50 miles in Nevada!!
We did the last 15 miles the next morning in Mesquite.
It was a very nice ride, except for the torture of sitting again on my bruised be-hind.

In loving memory....

Lois Marie White Sawyer
1927-2013

I will always and forever be grateful for Lois and all that she gave to me throughout the years.  For 27 wonderful years I have been blessed with the most amazing mother-in-law and my children have had such a special grandmother.

She will be missed.

Snowshoeing for FHE

For President's Day, I invited forced Shea and Braden to go snowshoeing.  Braden loved it, Shea thought she was being tortured.   It was a gorgeous day and I even took sleds so they could sled down the hills.  It was a little icy which made that a bit treacherous.  But fun.

Look at that gorgeous view.
Kamo absolutely LOVED being out on the trail.

Do you want some whine with that cheese?

This was a pretty steep hike and Braden's first time
on snowshoes.  A little rest and he was good to go.

"I'm not going to make it.  Just leave me here."
Good thing I love that girl or I just might have.

There were quite a few crashes.  Braden found out that boys
 shouldn't go belly-down on our paper-thin sleds.
He  he lost a little of his manhood on that mountain.
