Family Reunion - At the beach

What a day this was.....  it started out warm and beautiful.

And then it got ugly like I've never seen before.  The wind started and got up to about 50-55 mph. Sand was flying and rain was coming down.  Then the hail started.  We were all trying to keep the canopies and relaxation station from flying off when Robert grabbed Jaxson and told Kayla he was going to get him to the car.  I had the keys and started following.

The hail was so hard that we all ended up with bruises.  It was the craziest weather I have ever been in.  Robert had Jaxson wrapped in towels and a blanket and I think he's the only one to get out of the storm safely.  I waited in the car with Jaxson until the hail stopped.  It was unbelievable!

Jaxson in the car during the hail storm
he was such a trooper!

Tammy's birthday

Breann and Christa decided to surprise Tammy for her birthday.  I picked them both up - Breann came in on the train from Colorado and Christa flew in to SLC from California.  Tammy thought Robert and I were coming up to the cabin.... I'm sneaky that way.

When we got to the cabin, the girls took the quilt I made Tammy and went to the back yard.  I went inside and told Tammy that Robert was in the back yard with her present.  Breann and Christa were hiding behind the quilt... it was so fun to see Tammy's reaction when they put the quilt down!!

This photo is so adorable!!

This quilt is called "Trip around the world"
I made it for Tammy to celebrate all of the trips we have made and will make.

Pittsburg Lake Hike

To get to Pittsburgh Lake, you drive to on a (very narrow a times) jeep road about 7 miles.  Cross a pretty big river - we were lucky enough to catch a ride across the river with some guys on 4-wheelers.  Then you start to hike up.  And when I say up, I mean UP.

The forest service describes this trail as 1.5 miles.  If that was 1.5 miles then my mother wears army boots.  I was supposed to be at the SLC airport at 12:30 to pick up Christa Law so we were pretty rushed, but that certainly felt like more than 1.5 miles.  We almost turned back before reaching the lake, but luckily someone heading down told us we were only 3 minutes from the lake.  And what a site it was!  Probably one of the most breathtaking things I've seen on a hike.

I can't wait to go back up and stay overnight!

Hiking with Greg

We went about 7 miles round trip... I can't remember the name of the trail but it was up St. Charles Canyon on the way to the Minnetonka Caves.

There were a couple of bridges and creeks to cross.  I don't think I could ever get tired of being in the mountains.  It feeds my soul!
