Another day driving... and driving... and driving!

Today we drove from Prince George, BC to Prince Rupert, BC. About 10 hours.... not much construction and lots of beautiful country! The kids have been such great travellers. There were farting and laughing contests. What more can a mom ask for?


This was a beautiful gorge... there were lakes, rivers and mountains everywhere!

This photo was toward the end of our day. I wish I had stopped to take photo's of the glaciers and waterfalls. What was I thinking?? Probably just anxious for the drive to be over :)

British Columbia

Monday morning we left Seattle and dropped off a box for Kayla at the mission home. I gave the sister working there a hug for Kayla - and got a bit teary! It was her 8 month mark. Can't believe it!

Then we headed up to Vancouver, British Columbia to visit with my old college friend, Alison. It was a beautiful day so we took the kids down to the beach. What a blast!

Too bad I don't have one of our pictures from BYU-Hawaii to add here.

I'm sure we still look 18. ha ha.

Tuesday morning we left at 7:00 and didn't get to Prince George until 7:30 PM. It was a VERY long day, but we had fun stopping in Whistler where the 2010 Olympics will be.

here we are just waiting.... and waiting....

It really wasn't too bad... if you have to get stuck in construction

then British Columbia is the place to do it. We stopped for lunch at

a beautiful river called Cayoohs. We all agreed that it was a

little slice of heaven!!

Seattle Space Needle

My Aunt JeNeal!

Almost 50 years ago, my mother was looking for a roommate in Seattle and found JeNeal Martin. They have been friends ever since. My older sister was named after her and Kayla's middle name is also JeNeal. It was so wonderful to see her (it's been 25 years for both my mom and I) and we loved catching up.

Pikes Place Market

We got to Seattle about 1:00 today and after a bit of drama with parking the beast we took off for Pikes Place Market. What an adventure!

Rest stop fun...

When you travel this far, rest stops become your friend. After we left Baker City this morning, we stopped at a beautiful rest stop... the kids wanted to explore a bit.

For those of you wondering, Shea and Braden have been fabulous! They have their moments (well, really it is my moments of getting frustrated with them:) but over all they have been good to each other and willing to do whatever the day brings us.

We got into Baker City, OR this afternoon. While I went on a 29 mile bike ride (which was FABULOUS, but no pictures) my mom took the kids to the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. They all loved it. The kids then went swimming and we went out to eat. We are all very exhausted.. tomorrow we drive to Seattle, so it should be some beautiful scenery.

The week that flew by....

I got to Utah last Saturday and the week has literally FLOWN by. We've been staying at our friends, the Law's and spending time with Grandma and Grandpa Sawyer. I can't believe we are leaving in the morning to continue on our road trip! Here are a few shots from our week....

My mom flew in from California yesterday and we went to the Logan temple today. Robert and I were married here 23 years and 1 week ago. What a beautiful place!

Tammy and I have been friends for 16 years.... raising our babies and going through life's struggles together, just like sisters. I'm so grateful for her!

Kayla's new companions

Kayla was transferred last week to Maple Valley, WA. She is in a triple companionship with Sister Bush and Sister Gibbons. They had dinner at a members home who emailed me this picture.... Aren't they beautiful?!!!

Starlight Mountain

Friday morning we drove to Glenwood Springs, CO with my brother and sister in law. We stayed at a ski resort on Starlight Mountain. It was absolutely beautiful!! Amazing colors and a perfect 70 degrees. the kids had a blast playing in the rec room. The condo was VERY small for five of us.... but you can do anything for one night.

Saturday we drove over to Utah. Long day, but so glad to be here for the next week! Braden looks like a leper on his back, but is feeling better.

Other misadventures: Shea banged up her elbow hiking and I lost my keys. Luckily, I have a spare to the Yukon, but not the bike locks. ugh! I really want to bike and now I have to wait for Robert to mail me the spare.

Happy Father's day to Robert!! Yesterday was our 23rd anniversay and he called me and had the song "You are so beautiful" playing... until I accidently hung up on him. Not only do I go almost 1000 miles away, I hang up on him. not so cool. But wasn't that a wonderful anniversary present?
