A quilt for Sister Bush

One of Kayla's companions is getting married this weekend in LA and Kayla was asked to a bridesmaid. She decided to make a quilt using her wedding color as the contrast.....

It turned out beautiful!!!

Kayla and Sister Bush have said they will always call each other "Sister Sawyer" and "Sister Bush".  Funny!

Rainy 4th of July....

Hurricane Alex decided to drop
lots and lots and lots
of rain on Lubbock this holiday weekend.

Thank goodness that wasn't our weather last year.

Our street was a river....
the kids had fun splashing!

Patriotic Braden!

The girls out in the rain.
gotta make your own fun!

After Shea repeatedly lamented that this was the worse 4th of July EVER,
the best dad ever made donuts with her.

Then Shea decided to make her own red, white and blue fireworks...
baking soda and vinegar :)

Number one and other random things....

My mom just called to tell me that Family Circle has named Edmond, OK their #1 Best Town for Families.

Coincidence?
I think not.

So in honor of this, I thought I would post a few random photos....

Shea lovin' on one of the kitties.

Sophia, who is TERRIFIED of animals
bravely held one of the kitties.
Yay, Sophia!

Song LOVES jello.
From here to eternity,
I will never look at jello again
without thinking of Song.

pineapple-mango salsa.
so good.
so yummy.
and then it was gone.

Pink Scout

I am a good mother.
A caring mother.
A mother that sends 45 SPF sunscreen with her son to scout camp.

But I guess that doesn't guaranty it will be used.
Braden was in New Mexico all week.   In the sun.
Pretty much all day every day.
Without much sunscreen.
Luckily, I have proof for future generations.

Picture #1... Second-born son leaving for scout camp with white skin.

Picture #2.... Said son returning with bright pink skin

Picture #3... White-skinned son kissing an evil chihuahua.
Just had to add that one.
Disgusting, isn't it?!

Oklahoma. Seriously?

When Robert and I have talked about moving, my only request was that it be North and West of Colorado.

mountains.
oceans.
one or the other.
both would be fabulous.

Last time I checked, Oklahoma was neither North nor West of Colorado.
but we are now MOVING to Oklahoma.
Edmond, OK

And guess what?  It is a good thing.  A hard thing.  Makes-me-want-to-cry thing.

But mostly a good thing.

The decision was VERY difficult to make.  Much prayer.  Lots of research and talking and then more talking.  More prayer.  Luckily for us, our kids have been fabulously supportive.  LOVE THEM!

by the way, did you know that  I HATE BUGS?
Oklahoma  has more bugs than West Texas
My first friend in OK will be the terminex guy.

There is much to be missed here in Lubbock.
well, I won't miss being primary president.
But lots and lots and lots of wonderful friends will be missed.

Enough rambling.  I have to go pack.

Kitties...

Bella had five babies.....
Shea loves that they were born on her birthday!

Shea's Birthday!!

Eleven.
I can't believe my baby is 11.
Shea wanted a family birthday.... and for Bella to have her kittens.
She got both :)
After presents and ice cream cake, we went to The Karate Kid movie.
Then it was swimming with Song & Sophia....

We call these "daddy dives"
You don't need pool toys when you have a great dad!

Braden doesn't like his picture taken....
so Song dunked him.

Sophia pushed me in the pool.
and to think that I thought she was sweet and nice.
how wrong I was.

Then Kayla showed up for the fun!!!!

Even though it is 100 degrees...
that water is cold when you first get in!!

My scout...

We took Braden to Post, TX
(yes... the birthplace of Post Cereals)
for a Scout National Youth Leadership Training Camp

seven days.
without his mother.
i already miss him.
shea said she doesn't.  but I don't believe her.

want to bet how many times he changes his underwear and socks?
i say once.  twice at the most.
let's hope i'm wrong.

I LOVE hearing my kids laugh....

many, many years ago
when we had real grass.

and back when we had little kids.
(sniffle, sniffle)
we discovered a miracle.

after we would mow our grass, the kids feet would be dark green
simply squirt a little whole bottle of dish soap on the trampoline and spray with water.

and you have bubbly, cheap summer fun!

Anthony had never heard of such a thing...
I heard them laughing clear in the house.
all doors shut (it is 102 degrees today)
