Oklahoma City

Mickey Mantle
and us.

My family on a boat ride.
little, itty-bitty (but fun) boat ride.

Grandma and Shea on the end of the boat.
Right before the sun came out and Shea started melting.
loudly melting.

Beautiful paintings on the side of an old building.

Oklahoma yard art.
should I get one??

Niagra Falls of Oklahoma.  hmmmm.

These bronze statues depict the land grab of 1886.
When they are finished, there will be a total of 46 statues to
commemorate Oklahoma being the 46th state.

Braden and his grandma.  So cute.

This street sign cracked me up!  I found out that it is named after a local band.

Sunday walk with Grandma Zee

Grandma Zee is here!
We don't have church until 1:30
and it was perfect weather for a walk
and a great morning to take pictures of our neighborhood.
Most of the neighborhoods in Edmond have green, or common areas

One of our ponds....

Shea and her curls...

Grandma and Shea playing

The larger pond...
Jack loves to get in and cool off

A portion of the walking path is in a wooded area.
Beautiful!

Taking a rest on one of the benches

Question for the universe:
why do MY dogs ALWAYS waste
in my neighbors yard when we go for a walk?
ICK!

I also hate my neighbors mailbox

I haven't always hated my neighbors mailbox.
I actually never thought about my neighbors mailbox.
Until I backed into it.
Now I hate it.

Luckily, James and Brenda are VERY nice people.
AND I have fabulous auto insurance.
but I still hate their mailbox.

morning boogers...

I am a positive person by nature, but sometimes it's good to discuss what's wrong with life.
Just because.

I've got a few issues with things here in Oklahoma..
  • It was 95 degrees today.  Too sunny.  Too hot.  I'm getting annoyed with this.  My friend, Meg would be happy, but I don't hold that against her.  I'm better than that.
  • Morning boogers.  I get them every day.  But just in the morning so I guess I should be grateful.
  • The kids bathroom toilet sounds like it has gas.  Every time they flush.  Funny at first, but now it's annoying.
  • Our bathroom has the "shower of death"  If you've every been shot all over by a bb gun, you can relate.
  • I'm still getting lost.  Even with a GPS and a compass in my car.  That's really something that is wrong with me, but I don't want to accept responsibility.
  • It was 95 degrees today.

Bricktown

Oklahoma City has a riverwalk similar to San Antonia called Bricktown.
Robert, Andrew, Lexus and I went last night to check it out and have dinner...

Very nice evening.

Edmond's Farmers Market

Andrew & Lexus came up for the weekend... YAY!  We went to the local farmers market this morning which is in downtown Edmond.

There are statues throughout the small downtown area
I love this one...

Kids NOT posing for mom.

finally posing for mom.
Kids:  the sun.  it's blinding me. arghhhhh.
Mom:  open your eyes.  the picture is more important than being blind.

Braden sampling pepper honey
yes -in Oklahoma they put pepper in their honey.
weird.

Robert:  do you have to take pictures of everything?
yes.  it makes me happy.

love this shot of the produce.
so pretty.

Braden talked me into sampling sour dill pickles.
did you ever see that "bitter-beer" commercial?
that's what i looked like after my sour dill pickle.
yuck.

Braden & Shea sampling salsa.

yes.
Shea is All That.

It's marching band season!!

Last night was the first game of the season.
Santa Fe (our team) vs. Memorial (arch-rival)
We lost.  0-14

That's ok because I went to watch Braden and he did a FABULOUS job marching!!

Robert and Shea battling the west sun.
Next time I think we'll just drop Braden off and come back when it's time to start.

Braden playing in the stands before the game

They were awesome!!
I guess the hours and hours and hours of practice paid off!

Standing in perfect position...

OKC Zoo

Kayla, Braden & Shea
at the Zoo
Robert and I went on a bike ride
which made me very happy.
Going to the zoo in the summer in OK doesn't sound like fun.

And this is a perfect example of how I felt at the end of our move....
I belonged in a zoo sleeping in the fetal position.

blonde and short. say what?????

Actually it is just blonder and shorter.  But not much, which is just fine with me.

Nobody likes to look like an old hag.  Especially me.  So I took the plunge to get rid of the grey.  I was REALLY worried it would end up too drastic of a change.  I've had a bit too much change lately:)  Thank you very much.

Thank goodness I love it!

New furniture!

I sold quite a bit of our furniture before moving... partially because we are in a smaller house and mostly because I really wanted a few new things.  The good news is that I ended up getting even less than I thought and I love how it all fits!

New dining table - it only came with 4 chairs, so we'll get two more after our house sells in Lubbock in a few months.

New 1.5 chair.  Didn't even know they were called that... but love it!!!!  Great for snuggling with Shea to read a good book.  There is an ottoman that goes with it and I would love to have it, but it might take up too much room.  We'll ponder on that one for a while.

Shea found this bed online at Walmart.com.  Costs $1,200 less than the one in the kids furniture store.  Robert discovered why as he spent ALL DAY Saturday putting it together and getting very frustrated with how cheap it was.  But isn't it cute???  Now we just need to do a bit more decorating!
